Lachin

Lachin 

a city (since 1923) and center of Lachin Raion, Azerbaijan SSR. It is situated on the left bank of the Akera River, on the southwest slope of the Karabakhskii Range, on the Evlakh-Nakhichevan’ Highway, 77km southwest of the Agdam railroad station. Population, 5,300 (1972). It is the site of a creamery; nearby is a meat and dairy sovkhoz. In the vicinity of Lachin there are chromite mines and mineral springs.
