Lachs, Manfred
Born Apr. 21, 1914, in Stanislawow. Polish diplomat and jurist. Corresponding member of the Polish Academy of Sciences, professor of international law at the University of Warsaw, and member of the UN International Court of Justice since 1968. Lachs has written a number of important works on international law, including War Crimes (1945), The Indochina Agreements of 1955 (1956), The Polish-German Frontier: Law, Life, and the Logic of History (1964), and Poland’s Western Frontiers (1967).
