ladder diagram [′lad·ər ‚dī·ə‚gram]
(control systems)
A diagram used to program a programmable controller, in which power flows through a network of relay contacts arranged in horizontal rows called rungs between two vertical rails on the side of the diagram containing the symbolic power.
