The numeration of these poems is misleading, since the historical events described in epitre 9 (the return of the Princes of France as a result of the Ladies' Peace of 1529) occurred after those mentioned in epitres 13 and 14 (Francois's failures at the Battle of Pavia in 1525, and the birth of Marguerite's daughter Jeanne, in 1528).
