Lady Day
March 25
Lady Day is the name in England for the Feast of the Annunciation. This day was originally called Our Lady Day, a name that applied to three other days relating to the Virgin Mary: the Immaculate Conception (December 8), the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary (September 8), and the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (August 15). It commemorates the archangel Gabriel's announcement to Mary that she would give birth to Jesus, and is often referred to simply as The Annunciation. Lady Day is one of the Quarter Days in England and Ireland when rents are paid and tenants change houses. In France it is called NĂ´tre Dame de Mars ("Our Lady of March").
