Location: 20 miles northwest of Devils Lake, North Dakota. Facilities: Viewing sites, trails, observation tower, auto tour route. Activities: Hiking, hunting, primitive camping, educational programs. Special Features: Lake Alice is an area of major waterfowl concentrations during spring and fall migrations, supporting hundreds of thousands of nesting waterfowl annually. Habitats: 11,500 acres of wetlands and marshes. A mixture of grasses and legumes have been planted throughout the refuge to provide cover and food for various resident wildlife. Access: Open during daylight hours. Wild life: Franklin gulls, black-crowned night herons, mallards, pintails, gadwall, partridge, pheasant, grouse, woodpeckers, white-tailed deer, red fox, coyotes, and an occasional moose.
