Lake Keomah State Park

Location: 6 miles east of Oskaloosa, off IA 371.
Facilities: 65 campsites (41 with electrical hookups), modern showers and restrooms in campground, group camping area, day-use lodge, open picnic shelters (é), multi-use trails, swimming beach, fishing jetty (é), 2 boat ramps, 83-acre man-made lake.
Activities: Camping, swimming, fishing, boating (electric motors only), hiking, snowmobiling, ice fishing.
Special Features: Though it sounds like an Indian word, the name "Keomah" is actually derived from the first syllables of the two counties that originally helped finance the park, Keokuk and Mahaska. The park was dedicated in 1934, and many of the its facilities were built by the Civilian Conservation Corps.
