Location: 11 miles north of Ogallala.
Facilities: 268 campsites (camping pads) with electrical hookups, 58 camping pads without electricity, 2,647 primitive campsites, modern restrooms as well as vault toilets, coin-operated showers, picnic areas, 4 picnic shelters, concessions (including lodging), 15 boat ramps, 11 docks, 3 fish cleaning stations, boat rentals, swimming beach, visitor center.
Activities: Camping, boating (all types), fishing, swimming.
Special Features: Lake McConaughy (known locally as "Big Mac") is the state's largest reservoir and offers excellent opportunities for water sports, especially fishing. The Visitor/Water Interpretive Center at the lake features aquariums, a theater, and displays that interpret the benefits of the Platte River and the High Plains Aquifer.
