Lake Minatare State Recreation Area Location: 12 miles northeast of Scottsbluff. Facilities: 52 campsites with electrical hookups, 110 primitive campsites, modern restrooms as well as vault toilets, showers, drinking water, picnic areas, 7 picnic shelters, 3 boat ramps, 4 docks, 2 fish cleaning stations, swimming beach (unsupervised). Activities: Camping, boating (all types), fishing, swimming. Special Features: Lake Minatare is the home of Nebraska's only lighthouse and a federal waterfowl refuge. The recreation area is also located near Scotts Bluff National Monument (see entry in national parks section) and Chimney Rock.
