Lalemant, Gabriel (Saint Gabriel Lalemant) (gäbrēĕl` lälmäN`), 1610–49, French Jesuit missionary in North America, nephew of Charles Lalemant and Jérôme Lalemant, one of the Jesuit Martyrs of North America. He entered the order in 1630 and was sent to Quebec in 1646. He was assistant to Jean de Brébeuf Brébeuf, Jean de, Saint , 1593–1649, French Roman Catholic missionary, one of the Jesuit Martyrs of North America. A Norman, he was sent (1625) to Quebec and did missionary work among the Huron.
