Lan Sang

or Lan Xang or Lan Chang

Laotian kingdom that flourished from the 14th century until it was split into two separate kingdoms in the 18th century. Conflict with its neighbours forced Lan Sang's rulers to move the capital from Luang Prabang to Vientiane in 1563, but the kingdom maintained its power.
