| Syncrude Canada, the largest daily producer of tar sands, says its operations have disturbed 18,653 hectares since 1978, with just 4,055 hectares of land reclaimed. Taking advantage of the setting, the development is to be built on land reclaimed either side of the docks and piers of the former container port. Windmills were used to harness the winds of the North Sea for many industrial processes, as well as for irrigating farmland and draining land reclaimed from the water. |
