Land-Map Legend

    0.01 sec.
Land-Map Legend

an explanation of the land symbols employed in land-use, internal-farm-policy, soil, and agrochemical maps.

Expressed in the form of a table, the legend contains numerical data on the total area of land use represented in a map for an agricultural enterprise and on the areas of particular types of land. The symbols that are used to designate various elements of the map are given on a special line. Before the legend is prepared, a general contour-by-contour computation of the land areas involved is performed on the basis of ground- and aerial-survey materials. The legend is used for reference in planning and managing agricultural production and as a land registry document when land-policy agencies are allocating land.
