Landing Force

troops who are specially trained to land on territory occupied by the enemy or who have been landed on it for the purpose of waging combat action. Strategic, operational, and tactical landing forces are distinguished on the basis of size and objectives; by method of troop movement they are divided into naval, airborne, tank, and combined landing forces. Airborne landing forces may be dropped by parachute or landed on the ground, or a mixture of both methods may be used.
