Landrum, Phillip Mitchell

Landrum, Phillip Mitchell (1907–90) U.S. representative; born in Stephens County, Ga. A high school superintendent (1937–41) and lawyer, he ran for Congress before enlisting in the army. After serving in Europe, he worked for the Veterans' Administration and for Georgia, as assistant attorney general and executive secretary to the governor. In the U.S. House of Representatives (Dem., 1953–77) he cosponsored the Landrum-Griffith Bill to limit labor union picketing and boycotts. He retired to Jasper, Ga.
