Land's End

Land's End, promontory, Cornwall, SW England, forming the westernmost extremity of the English mainland. Of wave-carved granite, it has cliffs c.60 ft (20 m) high. Offshore are reefs and rocky islets, on one of which is Longships Lighthouse. Land's End is a major tourist attraction.

Land's End

Westernmost peninsula, Cornwall, England. Its tip is the southwesternmost point of England and lies about 870 mi (1,400 km) from John o' Groats, traditionally considered the northernmost point of Britain. Off its coast lie dangerous reefs, one group of which, a mile from the mainland, is marked by the Longships lighthouse.

He is currently braving a nine-day cycle ride from John O'Groats to Lands End with his friend Paul Lewis to raise pounds 1,000 for the Mary Stevens Hospice in Oldswinford, Stourbridge.
As simple as the materials and underlying structure of Lands End may be, its fundamental subject is even simpler: the perennial problem of sculpture and base, which Minimalism was supposed to have finally dissolved.
Now Sharon, 42, who swapped a job as a bus driver to train as a sports scientist, has been awarded the Charlie Hankins Trophy at the Lands End John O' Groats Association annual presentation, complementing the certificate which confirms she travelled from Lands End to John O' Groats in 12 days, 16 hours and 22 minutes.
