Landsford Canal State Park Location: Off US 21, 15 miles west of Lancaster. Facilities: Picnic shelter, hiking trails, canoe access point, education center, historic features, meeting building (é), playground. Activities: Canoeing, fishing, interpretive programs, hiking. Special Features: Landsford Canal, the best preserved of numerous 19th-century South Carolina river canals, is the uppermost of four canals built on the Catawba-Wateree river system between 1820 and 1835. The park includes the historic ruins of canal culverts, stone bridges, locks, a mill site, and a lockkeeper's house that contains interpretive exhibits on South Carolina's canal system.
