Landskrona (länskr `nä), city (1990 pop. 26,600), Malmöhus co., SW Sweden, a seaport on the Øresund. It is a commercial and industrial center. Manufactures include metal products, ships, leather, refined sugar, rubber, and textiles. Chartered in 1413, Landskrona was devastated in the Danish-Swedish wars of the 16th–17th cent. In 1677 the Swedes won a naval victory over the Danes off Landskrona. The city was largely rebuilt in the mid-18th cent. The nearby town of Ven, the residence of the 16th-century astronomer Tycho Brahe, was annexed by Landskrona in 1959.How to thank TFD for its existence?
