Lappé, Frances Moore

Lappé, Frances Moore (1944–  ) reformer, author; born in Pendleton, Ore. Her best-selling Diet for a Small Planet (1971) linked world hunger to economic injustice and urged that agriculture in developed countries shift from meat to vegetable production. She founded the Institute for Food and Development Policy (San Francisco) (1975) and wrote and lectured widely on economic development, population, and related issues.
