On the southeastern border of WY; first county in WY; created Jan 9, 1867 (prior to statehood). Name Origin: For Jacques LaRamie (?-c.1818), a respected French-Canadian trapper killed by Indians near the river, which was later named for him. Also spelled LaRamie or LaRamee.
