Slender-Billed Gull 

(Lams genei), a bird of the family Laridae. Body length, about 45 cm; weight, 270–350 g. The back and wings are light gray, and the wing tips are black; the rest of the plumage is white. The slender-billed gull is found in North Africa, Southern Europe, and Southwestern Asia; in the USSR it is encountered along seacoasts and saline and brackish lakes from the mouth of the Dnestr to Lake Balkhash. It often migrates for the winter (as far as Senegal, the Canary Islands, and the Red Sea). The slender-billed gull nests in colonies, most often on islands. The clutch contains two or three eggs, which are incubated by both parents. The gull feeds on locusts and other insects, small crustaceans, and small fishes.
