László, Jenõ 

Born Mar. 5, 1878, in Szatmárnémeti; died Dec. 29, 1919, in Budapest. Figure of the Hungarian workers’ movement.

László was educated as a lawyer. He joined the left wing of the Social Democratic Party of Hungary in 1907. László was one of the organizers of the Communist Party of Hungary (CPH) and was a member of the Central Committee of the CPH from the moment of the party’s creation in November 1918. He and other leaders of the CPH were arrested in February 1919. László was the political commissar of the revolutionary tribunal of the Hungarian Soviet Republic (Mar. 21-Aug. 1, 1919). After the fall of the Hungarian Soviet Republic, he was captured by counterrevolutionaries and executed.
