Launch Phase

    0.01 sec.
Launch Phase

the segment of the flight of a rocket after the rocket leaves the launch pad, during which it travels vertically, thus maintaining its launch attitude. The launch phase lasts a few seconds. The vertical ascent of a rocket is facilitated by the structures at the launch complex (for launch vehicles) and by special equipment for launches from silos and submarines (for combat missiles). A vertical launch makes it possible to reduce the energy lost when the rocket passes through the dense layers of the atmosphere and reduce the load imposed on the body of the rocket, which is especially important for large launch vehicles.
