Lavrovskii, Mikhail Leonidovich
Born Oct. 29, 1941, in Tbilisi. Soviet dancer. People’s Artist of the USSR (1976). Son of L. M. Lavrovskii. Lavrovskii, a pupil of N. I. Tarasov and G. M. Evdokimov, graduated from the Moscow Choreographic School in 1961 and was accepted into the company of the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow. His parts have included the Prince in Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake, Albrecht in Adam’s Giselle, the title role in Khachaturian’s Spartacus (Lenin Prize, 1970), Ferkhad in Melikov’s Legend of Love, and Viktor in Eshpai’s Angara (State Prize of the USSR, 1977). Lavrovskii won first prize and a gold medal at the International Ballet Competition in Varna in 1965 and received the Prix Nijinsky of the Paris Academy of Dance in 1972.
