Lee, Samuel Phillips (1812–97) naval officer; born in Fairfax County, Va. (grandson of Richard Henry Lee). He commanded the North Atlantic blockading squadron (1862–64) and the Mississippi Squadron (1864–65). He became a rear admiral in 1870 and retired in 1873.
