Leeds and Liverpool Canal 

a navigable canal in Great Britain. It connects the city of Leeds with the Irish Sea at the city of Liverpool. The canal is 230 m long. It was built in 1770–1816. The Leeds and Liverpool Canal is connected with the North Sea by the Aire and Calder rivers and by the canal between Leeds and the Humber estuary.

It allows boats to navigate the 127-mile Leeds-Liverpool Canal direct to the Pier Head, and it cuts a course through the World Heritage Site in front of the Three Graces, and allows boaters to access Salthouse Dock via two locks.
For the first time in more than a century, canal boats will be able to navigate the 127-mile Leeds-Liverpool Canal straight into the heart of the Albert Dock.
