Lehigh (lē`hī), river, 103 mi (166 km) long, rising in NE Pa. and flowing generally SE to the Delaware River at Easton. It flows through the Lehigh Valley, where rich anthracite deposits made Allentown Allentown, city (1990 pop. 105,090), seat of Lehigh co., E Pa., on the Lehigh River; inc. as a borough 1811, as a city 1867.
