Leominster State Forest

Location: Off Route 2, Exit 28.
Facilities: Picnic areas, beach (at Crow Hill Pond only), trails, scenic viewing areas, restrooms.
Activities: Boating (non-motorized), canoeing, fishing, swimming, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, rock climbing, hunting (with restrictions), cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling.
Special Features: Forest is located in the five towns of Westminster, Princeton, Leominster, Fitchburg, and Sterling in north central Massachusetts. It contains five ponds, with more than 135 acres of total surface area, and offers a range of recreational opportunities, both summer and winter.

If your want see the colorful trees from the trails, there are riding paths for all levels of riders at area forests, including Leominster State Forest, Rutland State Park, Hodges Village Dam in Oxford and Douglas State Forest.
Plans call for the trail to run over Route 2 and into the Leominster State Forest, as well as east into the city of Leominster.
The mountain bike rides at Leominster State Forest also became intriguing for the youngster because the names of the trails had a certain mystique, such as King Tut's Highway, Paradise Alley and Wolf Rock Road.
