Lethbridge

Lethbridge (lĕth`brĭj), city (1991 pop. 60,974), S Alta., Canada, on the Oldman River. Formerly a coal-mining center, Lethbridge is now a commercial and service center for an irrigated farming and ranching district. Its diverse industries include sugar refining, food processing, brewing, steel fabricating, and the manufacture of electronic equipment. There are federal agricultural and veterinary research stations. The Univ. of Lethbridge was founded in 1967.

Lethbridge 

a city in southern Canada, in Alberta, on the Oldman River in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Population, 41,000 (1971). Lethbridge is a railroad junction and the center of a grain and livestock region. Coal is mined in the area. Lethbridge has grain elevators and produces flour and machinery.
