Leuco Compounds

water-soluble reduction products of many organic dyes that can be converted into the original dyes upon oxidation (for example, by atmospheric oxygen). Leuco compounds are widely used in vat dyeing. Certain dyes (for example, indigo) are produced in the form of stable salts of acid sulfate esters of leuco compounds.
