Lhevinne, Josef pianists, teachers; Josef born in Orel, Russia, and Rosina in Kiev, Russia. After gaining fame as soloists in Russia and Europe, they came to the U.S.A. in 1919. While they continued to concertize, they both taught at Juilliard; although he had the more prominent concert career, she lived on to become legendary for teaching an endless succession of prominent pianists including Van Cliburn.
