Kniazeva, Lidiia Nikolaevna

Born Feb. 9, 1925, in Moscow. Soviet Russian actress. People’s Artist of the USSR (1970). Became a member of the CPSU in 1954.

Upon finishing her training at the studio of the Moscow Young People’s Theater in 1948, Kniazeva became an actress at the theater proper. Her most well-known roles include the Queen in Marshak’s Twelve Months, the title role in Shvarts’ Red Riding Hood, Lena in Ryss’ The Girl Is Looking for Her Father, Fedia in Gubarev’s Pavlik Morozov, the monkey Chi Chi in Korostylev’s What the Wizards Talked About, Pet’ka in Shatrov’s In the Name of the Revolution, Prince Delikh’iar in Kassil’ and Khomskii’s Be Prepared, Your Highness, and Edward and Tom in Mikhailov’s Tom Canty, based on The Prince and the Pauper by Mark Twain.
