Lidiia Skoblikova

Skoblikova, Lidiia Pavlovna 

Born Mar. 8, 1939, in Zlatoust. Soviet speed skater. Honored Master of Sports (1960) and teacher. Member of the CPSU since 1964.

In 1974, Skoblikova became head of the department of physical education at the Moscow Higher School of the Trade Union Movement of the Ail-Union Central Council of Trade Unions. She earned six gold medals at the winter Olympic games of 1960 and 1964 and was all-round world champion in 1963–64. She broke several records and was a world champion and USSR champion in speed skating over different distances, winning 40 gold medals, including 25 at world championships and 15 at USSR championships.

Skoblikova has been awarded two orders and various medals.
