Light Field

Light Field

the field of a light vector (seeVECTOR FIELD). The theory of light fields is a division of theoretical photometry, in which the distribution of illuminance is found by applying general methods for calculating the spatial distribution of luminous flux. The projection of a light vector on any direction passing through a point is equal to the difference in illuminance of two sides of a small area that is located at this point and is perpendicular to the given direction. The magnitude and position of the light vector are independent of the system of coordinates. The theory of light fields makes use of the concept of light lines, which is analogous to the concept of lines of force in the classical theory of physical fields.
