Crookes radiometer [′kru̇ks ‚rād·ē′äm·əd·ər]
(physics)
A radiometer used to demonstrate that radiant energy from the sun can produce motion; a miniature four-vane windmill is mounted in a glass-envelope vacuum tube, with each vane polished on one side and black on the other.
