Limassol (lēmäsôl`), city (1992 pop. 87,091), S Cyprus, on Akrotiri Bay. It is a district administrative center, a port, and a resort. Wine and agricultural goods are exported. Chrome and asbestos are mined in the district. At Limassol, in 1191, Richard I of England married Berengaria of Navarre. Limassol a port in S Cyprus: trading centre. Pop.: 163 000 (2005 est.)
