Linderstrøm-Lang, Kaj Ulrik

Born Nov. 29, 1896, in Fredensborg; died May 25, 1959, in Copenhagen. Danish biochemist. Foreign member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1958), member of the National Academy of Sciences of the USA (1947) and the Royal Society of London (1956).

Linderstrøm-Lang graduated from the Copenhagen Technological Institute in 1919 and then worked at the Carlsberg Laboratory. In 1958 he became president of the International Union of Biochemistry. He carried out studies on the physical chemistry of protein substances and introduced the concept of three levels of protein structure.
