Lindi
a city in Tanzania, on the Indian Ocean coast, at the mouth of the Lukuledi River, in Mtwara Province. Population, 13,400 (1967). The highway leading into the heart of the continent begins at Lindi. The city is a port exporting agricultural produce and the commercial center for the surrounding agricultural region (producing cashews, agave, cotton, millet, copra, and peanuts).
