In northwest OR, northeast of Eugene; original county; organized 1847 (prior to statehood). Name Origin: For Lewis Fields Linn (1795-1843), physician and U.S. senator from MO (1833-43); author of the Donation Land Law, which gave free land in the west to settlers.

Area (sq mi): 2310.15 (land 2292.18; water 17.97). Pop per sq mi: 47.50.
