Linowitz, Sol (Myron) (1913– ) lawyer, diplomat; born in Trenton, N.J. He graduated from Cornell Law School (1938) and worked for the Office of Price Administration (1942–44) before entering private practice. He was the general counsel and chairman of the board for Xerox Corporation (1958–66) and chief executive officer of Xerox International (1966). He was the U.S. ambassador to the Organization of American States (1966–69), then became a senior partner with the international law firm of Coudert Brothers (1969–77). He was a conegotiator for the Panama Canal Treaties (1977–78) and President Carter's personal ambassador during the Middle East negotiations (1979–81).
