Liquid Audio

A music distribution service from Liquid Digital Media, Redwood City, CA (www.liquidaudio.com). Supporting its own SDMI-compliant digital rights management (DRM) system as well as those from Microsoft and IBM, Liquid Audio offers content hosting and a large distribution network of retail and music Web sites to bands and record labels for promoting and selling their music via the Web. Liquid Audio tracks, which include album art, liner notes and track titles, are played with Liquid Player, RealOne/RealPlayer and RealJukebox software. The Liquid Audio system supports AAC, ATRAC3, MP3 and AC-3 recording formats. The company was a founding member of the SDMI initiative in early 1999.
