Liszt
Franz . 1811--86, Hungarian composer and pianist. The greatest piano virtuoso of the 19th century, he originated the symphonic poem, pioneered the one-movement sonata form, and developed new harmonic combinations. His works include the symphonies Faust (1861) and Dante (1867), piano compositions and transcriptions, songs, and church music

Choreographer Miki Liszt has curated a First Fridays dance series at the McGuffey Art Center in Charlottesville for the past 12 years.
Most composers are very well known--Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, and Liszt, for example--but he also includes lesser or, to many, unknown composers, such as Clementi and Medtner.
Hassler was a finalist in the 2005 Metropolitan Opera Auditions and winner of the Voice Division of the 2004 Internal Franz Liszt Competition.
