lithium polymer
A rechargeable battery technology introduced in the late 1990s that stores less energy per pound than lithium ion, but is more flexible. Lithium polymer uses a gelatinous electrolyte rather than liquid. Instead of requiring a steel can, lithium polymer cells can be manufactured in thin, pliable shapes and custom sizes for special requirements. See lithium ion and batteries.

The firm is also showing an Elantra hybrid (left) that runs on liquified petroleum gas (LPG) and lithium ion polymer batteries.
Elantra LPI Hybrid is also the world's first hybrid vehicle to adopt advanced Lithium Ion Polymer rechargeable batteries that have higher energy density, lower manufacturing costs, are more robust to physical damage and can also take more charge--discharge cycles before storage capacity begins to degrade than Lithium Ion Batteries.
However, among its various technologies is electric power stored in a lithium ion polymer battery pack, which will make its real-world debut in a new hybrid version of the latest Hyundai Elantra this summer.
