Little Manatee River State Park Location: 4 miles south of Sun City, off US 301 on Lightfoot Road. Facilities: 34 full-facility campsites, 4 of which are specifically designed for horse camping, youth/group camping area, primitive camping, picnic area, pavilions, playground, hiking trails (6.5 miles), equestrian trail (8 miles), canoe rental, restrooms (é). Activities: Camping, canoeing, freshwater fishing, hiking, horseback riding, wildlife viewing, interpretive programs. Special Features: Little Manatee River begins in a swampy area east of Fort Lonesome in southeastern Hillsborough County and flows about 40 miles before emptying into Tampa Bay. The river has been designated an Outstanding Florida Water and is part of the Cockroach Bay Aquatic Preserve.
