Imanov, Liutfiiar Muslim Ogly
Born Apr. 17, 1929, in Sabirabad, Azerbaijan SSR. Soviet Azerbaijani singer (dramatic tenor). People’s Artist of the USSR (1977). Imanov began his stage career in 1943, performing in drama theaters and in choral and variety groups. In 1957 he graduated from A. A. Milovanov’s voice class at the Baku Music School, and in 1968 he graduated from the division of theater studies of the Azerbaijan Institute of the Arts. He has been a soloist with the Azerbaijan Theater of Opera and Ballet since 1958. Imanov’s parts have included German in Tchaikovsky’s The Queen of Spades, Manrico and Radames in Verdi’s II Trovatore and Aida, José in Bizet’s Carmen, the title role in Gounod’s Faust, Cavaradossi in Puccini’s Tosca, the title roles in Gadzhibekov’s Ker-ogly and Mustafaev’s Vagif, and Balash in Amirov’s Seville. He has also toured abroad. Imanov has been awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor and several medals. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
