Livadiya

Livadiya (lyĭvä`dyēə), town, S Ukraine, in the Crimea near Yalta, on the Black Sea. It produces wine and is a noted health resort. Dating from medieval times, Livadiya became a summer residence of the Russian czars in 1861. The Livadiya palace, built in 1910–11, is now a sanatorium. It was the meeting place of the Yalta Conference Yalta Conference, meeting (Feb. 4–11, 1945), at Yalta, Crimea, USSR, of British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, U.S. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and Soviet Premier Joseph Stalin.

His dam won three races over 1m2f to 1m4f at three, and is a half-sister to Livadiya, a prolific winner between 1m and 1m2f at four to seven who picked up three Listed wins and finished second in the Tattersalls Gold Cup and Group 2 Ridgewood Pearl Stakes.
Tonight's big-race field includes last year's winner EKLIM and runner-up FEARN ROYAL while Harry Rogers' classy mare LIVADIYA tops the weights but faces a stern test under 9-11.
Ivowen, Livadiya and Alexander Goldrun make up the home team in the race, which will be run for the first time as a Group One event.
