LiveDistro A Linux distribution that comes on a bootable CD-ROM, DVD-ROM or USB drive, but is not installed automatically. It boots and runs Linux directly from the bootable disk. Used for demonstration purposes or to evaluate how well the Linux version runs on a particular machine, the LiveDistro typically does not alter any files on the hard disk or leave any data. After the LiveDistro disk is removed, when the machine is turned off and back on, it boots back to its installed OS. LiveDistros typically have an option to install Linux as well. See cowloop, cloop and LiveCD. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
