Davidović, Ljubomir 

Born Dec. 24, 1863, in the village of Vlaŝko Polje, Kosmaj Oblast; died Feb. 19. 1940. in Belgrade. Serbian and Yugoslav politician.

Davidović graduated from the science and mathematics department of the College of Arts and Sciences of the Great School in Belgrade. He taught secondary school in Užic, Vranje, and Belgrade and then served in the Ministry of Education. In May 1901 he founded the bourgeois Independent Radical Party. In 1904, 1914–17, and 1918–19 he was secretary of education. In 1905, Davidović was chairman of the Serbian National skupŝtina. In 1919 he founded the bourgeois Democratic Party; in 1919–20 and in 1924 he headed the government. After the Jan. 6, 1929, military-monarchist coup he was part of the opposition. In the mid-1930’s he was one of the leaders of the so-called united opposition. He supported the restoration of parliamentarism in the country.
