Rock ‘N’ Roll
a style of popular jazz music that arose in the USA in the early 1950’s. It derives from the merging of rhythm and blues—a form of Negro musical art—and hillbilly music—a form of rural American folklore. The original, rhythmically accented structure of rock ‘n’ roll, borrowed from Anglo-Saxon and Negro folklore, has greatly influenced vocal and dance music and is one of the foundations of pop music.
