Lloydminster (loid`mĭnstər), city (1991 pop. in Alberta, 10,042; in Saskatchewan, 7,241), on the Alta.-Sask. boundary, Canada. The city is chartered by both provinces. Farming and ranching are the chief activities of the region, which has oil, natural gas, coal, and salt deposits.

CALGARY, Alberta -- TransAlta Corporation (NYSE:TAC) (TSX:TA) today announced its intention to sell its 50 per cent interest in the 220-megawatt gas-fired Meridian Cogeneration Facility located in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan for $110.
Of the 10 wells targeted to be drilled, one gas well is located in the Doe Area of Alberta, two gas wells at West Currant, British Columbia, one gas well and oil well at Rigel, British Columbia, three oil wells at Ribstone, Alberta and, one oil well and one oil and gas test well at Lloydminster, Saskatchewan.
TransAlta has other projects in development including: - 215-MW cogeneration project in development with Husky Oil for SaskPower to be built in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, scheduled to be on stream in late 1999.
